Big
projects for iku®windows in Kuwait
Recently
iku®windows windows received the patents for the self cleaning
Unitized System. At the same time latest tests were successfully completed. The
first project in Kuwait is already
awarded: The Al-Jawhara tower in Kuwait City is a high-rise building with about
32 floor and height of 160 m. The whole glass façade will be equipped with self
cleaning iku®windows Unitized System. Fabrication partner in Kuwait is the British Link
Company (BLK). The office tower shows modern
design and will certainly set a new landmark in Kuwait City.
The second
project completed already in Kuwait is established in the district Salmiya,
little outside of Kuwait City, which ranks among the most favourable
residential areas in Kuwait. The luxury apartment tower Al Mousawi was already
equipped with a self cleaning structural glazing façade. It has 17 floors and a
height of 56 m.

Facade concept integrates second skin
The unitized façade concept is unique: A belt carrying
the wiper is running inside the vertical profiles. The width of the wiper is 5
m, which is moved by a 24 V motor unit.
Maximum system height is 50 m for one wiper. On taller
buildings several systems are installed on top of one another. Water and
detergent are sprayed on to the façade at the touch of a button, then the
wipers clean the façade automatically.
Integration of additional options, like shading,
photovoltaic, lightening and advertising is possible any time. A systemized
fixing unit for these options is part of the concept.
