Handover of the iku®windows facade to MVA Pfaffenau

Up one level

iku®windows equipped a facade with its self-cleaning mechanism at entrance area of the new refuse incineration company

From 1 January 2009 on, it will not be allowed anymore to depose waste without treatment before. The city government of Austrian's capital Vienna took care for this in advance and has built a new refuse incineration plant.

The plant in Vienna is one of the biggest and most cutting edge projects in Europe. The residual waste, which cannot be avoided, will be converted into clean energy. Additional 50.000 households in Vienna will be supplied with this heating energy.

The start of the construction was 2006, the all-in cost has been 220 Mio Euros. The winner of the architectural competition - Veselinoviv-Resetarits - has been also involved in the completion of the Viennese main library, maybe therefore the two buildings look similiar in a way.

iku®windows integrated its self-cleaning mechanism into a cover cap facade. The main reason for the use of the intelligent technology of iku®windows was the lack of access to the glass facade behind expanded metal sheets, which are design elements of the building.

More information about the project you will find here.
